Case Study
Throughout 2003/2004 we carried out decoration work on four army bases in Iraq. The projects consisted of the decoration of pre-fabricated buildings to form shops and bars for the servicemen. All materials and plant were shipped twelve weeks prior to commencement on site, therefore logistical and procurement issues were critical in ensuring commencement of the projects. Our decorators were in Iraq for a total of sixteen weeks working in a very hostile environment; the health and safety was paramount for our decorators; hence Visa’s being arranged to gain access to Kuwait to enable an exit route if required. Our men were fully briefed on health and safety from working in extreme temperatures to survival techniques in the desert provided by the British Army.
